Competition Checklist & Fees

Please reach us at info@iceskates4u.com if you have any questions.

Performance is required to pass skating skills and what better way to do this than by earning an award. Competitions are extremely rewarding and valuable experiences for growth as a skater and a performer. Each skater gets a chance to show their improvement. I want each skater to feel confident with their routines so it is important for the skater to stay consistent with their lessons and practices. I have competitions every two to three months. I like the skater to perform at other ice rinks to get a more competitive experience. In preparation for a competition, I plan on practicing at that ice rink at least a week or two before the competition for preparation purposes. Make an appointment with me so I can teach your skater on practice ice. I want your skater to be able to do several types of skating routines. The types range from technical, which shows off skating-level skills; spotlights/artistic, which shows off creativity; footwork, which shows off agility on the ice; and dramatic, which shows off emotions. I edit the correct length of music to fit each skating event and will give the skater their own CD or FlashDrive of the skating music.

  • Arrive at the rink 1 Hour earlier than your skating warm-up time.
  • Check in your MUSIC.
  • Have your skates polished, laces washed and laced up. Use skate GUARDS.
  • Hair pulled back off your face (cross any bobbi-pins). Hairspray loose hair.
  • Carry an extra pair of tights (beige color) for warmth and in case of runs.
  • Don’t wear underwear (might show).
  • Bring a buttoned or zipped sweater and gloves for practice.
  • Make-up can be worn lightly.
  • Eat carbohydrates the night before. Eat your last meal TWO or THREE hours before you skate.
  • No sugar, especially no soda, before you skate. Eating a small snack before event time is okay.
  • Have a positive “do your best attitude” and a SMILE.
  • Get your skates sharpened 1-2 weeks before the competition. Leave skates for sharpening in the milk-crate in the coaches room.
